Theodore Athanasiadis, MBBS, PhD, FRACS

Dr Athanasiadis currently works as a dedicated laryngologist at Flinders Medical Centre and Senior lecturer at Flinders University in South Australia. He is the head of ENT training at Flinders and is involved in running a number of laryngology related courses every year as well as assisting in the training of laryngologists in developing countries. He has authored over 20 publications and book chapters and lectured widely both nationally and internationally on laryngological issues.

Theo undertook his Otolaryngology training in South Australia and received a PhD in wound healing. He was fortunate to receive the Marjorie Hooper Travelling Scholarship from the RACS allowing him to complete a further year of sub specialty training in laryngology. On returning to Adelaide, Theo established voice centres both at Flinders University as well as in private practice working in close collaboration with speech pathologists and singing teachers. He is currently Vice President of the Laryngology Association of Australasia. He has significant experience in treating performing artists as well as those with chronic cough and vocal cord dysfunction. He is active in laryngeal research particularly in the areas of chronic cough, respiratory papillomatosis and voice augmentation.
